NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 22 – Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo on Monday met with the new Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) board chairman Tom Mshindi.
During the talks, the two discussed the turn-round strategy for the public broadcaster.
“I thank H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto for appointing a respected, experienced and seasoned media practitioner to augment efforts in revitalizing the public broadcaster,” Owalo stated.
Mshindi replaced Benjamin Maingi whose appointment was revoked by President William Ruto.
He boasts an impressive career in journalism and media, with a remarkable nine-year tenure at the Nation Media Group (NMG).
During his time at NMG, Mshindi began as a journalist and steadily climbed the ranks, ultimately assuming the role of Managing Editor of the prestigious Daily Nation.
He also held key positions such as Managing Director of Monitor Publications, an NMG subsidiary in Uganda, Managing Director of Nation Newspapers Division, and Chief Operating Officer.
Currently, Mshindi is actively engaged as a consulting editor and writer for his venture, Tom Mshindi Consulting.
His wealth of experience, extensive knowledge of the media industry, and track record of leadership make him a compelling choice to head KBC.
As Chairman, Mshindi will play a pivotal role in guiding the state-owned broadcaster toward fulfilling its mandate and contributing to the growth and development of Kenya’s media sector.
